Hurst, Blanton Lead Golf to Second Place Finish
Niota, Tennessee- The Brenau golf team placed two players on the All-Tournament team en route to a second place finish at the TWU Spring Invite, hosted at Springbrook Golf and Country Club on Tuesday.
Seniors Macie Hurst and Annika Blanton led the Golden Tigers as both earned All Tournament team honors. Hurst finished with a strong 80-80-160 (+16) over two days to place fourth overall, while Blanton shot 80-83-163 (+19) to finish in sixth place.
Freshman Ylenia Bennasar added a solid showing with a 86-84-170 (+26) and sophomore Haylee Rhodes improved eight shots on day two of competition to shoot an 91-83-174 (+30) for T19 place. Freshman McKenzie McRee also added a 99-87-186 (+42) to finish 28th.
The squad posted a 337-330-667 (+91) to finish only five strokes behind the team winner, Campbellsville (Ky.) University. Reinhardt (Ga.) University placed third (676) while host Tennessee Wesleyan finished in fourth place (681).
Whitney Messer of Union (Ky.) College earned low medalist honors with a 77-77-154 (+10).
Brenau next competes at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships on April 26-27th.
