Golf Takes Fourth at AAC Fall Championships;
Braselton, Georgia- Junior Annika Blanton fired a 79-77-156 to help the Brenau golf team place fourth at the AAC Fall Championships, hosted by Chateau Elan Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
Blanton, a native of Hoschton, Georgia, placed fourth out of 70 golfers to earn all-tournament honors and lead the team to a 672 (+96) team score.
Junior Macie Hurst also had a solid showing in the tournament by posting a score of 168 (+24). The Flowery Branch, Ga. native lowered her score eight shots from day one to finish T20.
Senior Niquole Mangal also earned a top-25 finish with a two-day score of 86-84-170 (+26) to earn a tie for 24th place. Freshman Abby Akin also posted a solid 87-91-178 to finish 40th place.
Other Golden Tigers finishers include freshman McKenzie McRee (91-93-184/T46 place), freshman Haylee Rhodes (102-95-197/T59 place) and Logan Byrd (106-94-200/63rd place).
SCAD-Atlanta (656) captured first place honors, while Milligan (Tenn.) College (661) and Truett-McConnell (Ga.) University (662) round out the top three team finishers.
Whitney Messer from Union (Ky.) College was the low individual medalist with a 148, while St. Andrews (N.C.) University's Lydia Randall was the tournament runner up with a 151.
Brenau next competes at the Roadrunner Invitational, hosted by Dalton State College from October 20-22 in Cohutta, Ga.
