Golf Places Fourth at AAC Spring Championships
Braselton, Georgia- The Brenau golf team improved ten strokes on day two of competition to earn fourth place at the 2021 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships hosted at Chateau Elan Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Golden Tigers fired a 338-328-666 (+82) to place seven strokes ahead of fifth place Reinhardt (Ga.) University.
Individually, Annika Blanton shot a consistent 78-79-157 to finish tied for third place overall and earn All-Tournament honors. The senior finished even with Union (Ky.) College's Whitney Messer and only nine strokes behind low medalist Alayna Perryman of Milligan (Tenn.) University.
Macie Hurst placed 14th overall with a two-day total of 81-82-163 (+17), while freshman Ylenia Bennasar finished in 25th place with a 89-82-171 (+25).
Sophomore McKenzie McRee improved six strokes on day two of the tournament to shoot a 91-85-176 (+30) and sophomore Haylee Rhodes added a solid 90-88-178 (+32).
Milligan University garnered top team honors with a +43, while Tennessee Wesleyan University placed second with a team total of +72.
Truett McConnell (Ga.) University took third place with a score of +73, while Reinhardt (Ga.) University (+89), Columbia (S.C.) Collège (+104), Montreat (N.C.) College (+117) and Point (Ga.) University (+162) rounded out the team finishers.
