Golf Opens Spring Season at Coastal Georgia Invitational
St. Simons Island, Georgia- The Brenau golf team improved by nineteen strokes on day two of the Coastal Georgia Invitational to place ninth in a competitive field this past weekend.
The Golden Tigers shot a team total of 352-331-683 to move up two spots in the opening match of the spring season.
Junior Annika Blanton led Brenau with a two day total of 80-78-158 to place in a tie for 18th place, while senior Niquole Mangal improved her score eight strokes from day one to shoot an 88-80-168 to secure a tie for 41st place.
Junior Macie Hurst finished in a tie for 46th with a score of 89-84-173 and freshmen Abby Akin (104-89-193) and Haylee Rhodes (95-99-194) placed 75th and tied for 76th place respectively. Freshmen McKenzie McRee (91-103-194/T76) and Logan Byrd (107-101-208/82nd) also competed for the Golden Tigers.
Eastern Florida State won the event with a team total of 612, while host Coastal Georgia (618) and Dalton State College (619) rounded out the top three teams.
USC-Beaufort's Bianca Porta captured low medalist honors with a total of 77-69-146.
Brenau next competes at the Golden Tigers Invitational at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville on March 16-17.
