Golf Places Second in 2022 Fall Opener

Lanett, Alabama- In the opening event of the 2022 fall season, the Brenau golf team placed second at the 2022 Ladies Point Fall Invite played at Point University Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.

The team posted a 321-336-657 (+89) to outpace third place Southern Union State (Ala.) for second place.

Individually, junior Ylenia Bennasar and senior Haylee Rhodes led the Golden Tigers with top-ten finishes. Bennasar capped an outstanding tournament with a consistent 80-78-158 to tie for third place, while Rhodes used a strong day one to shoot 164 to finish in a tie for ninth place.

Sophomore Sasha Baker shot 83-84-167 to place in a tie for 12th, while freshman Eryn Blakeley added an 80-88-168 to earn 15th place in her first collegiate tournament. Senior McKenzie McRee also had a solid showing with a two-day total of 174 to finish T22nd.

Conference rival Tennessee Wesleyan captured top team honors with a 320-315-635 (+31) while also having low medalist honors from Maisie Hassall who shot 74-75-149.

The Golden Tigers continue their fall slate at the Tennessee Wesleyan University Fall Classic on September 16-18th.
