Competitive Cheer Places Third at NCA Nationals
Daytona Beach, Florida- The Brenau competitive cheerleading team placed third at the 2021 National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) championships this past weekend.
The Golden Tigers squad posted a total score of 92.4125 to place second in the Advanced All-Girl III division. The squad earned a day one score of 91.35 and day two score of 92.77, which included zero deductions.The squad finished behind overall champion Alma (MI.) College (96.9542) and narrowly behind second place Elmira (N.Y.) College (93.4917).
"The girls did amazing," said head coach Krista Britt. "I honestly could not be more proud of their performance. They left it all on that floor. It was a feeling none of us will soon forget. We had a lot to overcome this season,including COVID, quarantines, injuries, and canceled competitions. The level of perseverance this team has shown says a lot about the character of these young women."

Divisions were split between in-person and virtual competition. Brenau competed in the in-person division.
The squad had 17 team members with no prior national championship experience and will have no graduating seniors going into next season.
