Ellen Black Named SSAC Player of the Week
Gainesville, GA - This week, Ellen Black has had the honor of being recognized twice, for her athletic achievements. The Southern States Athletic Conference has named her Softball Player of the Week, and furthermore, Ellen has been selected as Brenau University's Golden Tiger of the Week, for the second time this season.
Ellen Black is a junior, from Toccoa, Georgia. Moreover, she has played several positions for Coach Thomas, including: pitcher, 1st base, and right field.
It was evident that Black had a great week at the plate, and on the mound. She hit .692 for the week, with 3 homeruns and 10 Runs Batted In. In addition, she pitched a 1 hit shutout against Southern Wesleyan to get her 6th win of the season, on the mound.
She currently ranks 1st in the conference in Runs Batted In per Game, with a 1.68 average. She has a total of 47 RBI's on the season, along with 11 homeruns that she leads the team with. In addition, Black is 3rd in the conference for Opponents Batting Average; she has obtained an average of .153, while pitching to 124 at bat.
