Golden Tigers Split with Host LaGrange

The GoldenTigers softball team opened up the first game of a 4 game series with a loss to host LaGrange College on the road last night. Brenau was shut-out in the game- uncharacteristic of a team that is capable of producing runs in the double digits on most occasions.

Anna Maness had 6 strikeouts on the mound. Brenau only managed two hits in the first game.Lana Lazar had a single, and Jacqueline McWhorter hit a double to lead the team. The hosts recorded 5 strikeouts and a total of 5 hits for the win.
In the second game of the evening the bats came alive and the Golden Tigers started hitting. Brenau recorded a total of 10 hits in the second game and the resulting 10-1 win proved to be more in line with what the team has the capability of producing.
With the first game out of the way, Brenau settled into the second and began hitting the ball consistently. Lana Lazar had a single with 2 RBI's. Lydia Gerrin had a single along with teammate Jacqueline McWhorter who had a single and an RBI. Jenny Shepherd went 1 for 3 on the game with an RBI. Tiffany Schandera went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Kris Reynolds was 3 for 3 in the second game. LaGrange only recorded 2 hits in the second game thanks to the GoldenTigers excellent pitching. Pitcher, Jenny Shepherd recorded the win for Brenau on the mound with a total of 5 strikeouts.
