Brenau Shuts Out Coastal Georgia
Brunswick, GA - The Brenau Golden Tigers softball team ran their season record to 5-1 today with two wins against College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, GA. Brenau comfortably won both games in five innings 10-0 and 8-0 respectively, against their future SSAC opponents.
Anna Maness pitched the first game of the double header earning a total of seven strike outs and giving up just two hits. Tiffany Schandera accounted for much of the run production in the first game as she stepped up to the plate and hit a grand slam homerun; Schandera went 2-3 with 4 RBI's for the game. Senior, Morgan Smith went 1-2 at the plate with 3 RBI's and a homerun. Sally Duggan and Taylor Kelley both went 2-3 with Duggan picking up a single RBI and Kelley getting 2 RBI's and Brooke Bryant went 1-3 on the game.
Sophomore, pitcher Jenny Shepherd, struck out five in the second game giving up no hits in the process.
Taylor Kelley added to her first game tally going 2-3 at the plate with 2 RBI's and a homerun. Katie Bolin hit an RBI and was 1-3 for the game. Senior, Ellen Black was 1-2 in game two of the doubleheader.
The Golden Tigers travel up I-95 to SSAC opponent Brewton Parker on Wednesday for the second day of their spring break trip to South Georgia. The Lady Barons will bring their 10-6 overall record to the match-up. This will be the first conference game for either of the teams. Game 1 of the double header is scheduled to start at 2pm in Mt. Vernon on the campus of Brewton Parker College.
