Blue Raiders Too Strong For Golden Tigers

GULF SHORE, AL - The Golden Tigers were beaten 5-0 against Lindsey Wilson College in their first performance at the Gulf Coast Invitational Tournament. After a rained out first game against Morningside College, earlier in the day, Brenau Softball team returned to action against No. 14-ranked Lindsey Wilson. The Tigers came into the game with an overall record of 10-1; the Blue Raiders came into the game 18-2.
Brenau made a slow start to the game allowing Lindsey Wilson to go 3-0 in the first innings. They put up a strong fight during the middle part of the game quieting the Lindsey Wilson batters before allowing them to take two final runs in the sixth innings. Anna Maness pitched striking out five, but allowing 9 hits and taking all five runs. Lindsey Wilson out hit Brenau 9-2 with Jenny Shepherd (3-1) and Ellen Black (3-1) each making a hit. The game was Lindsey Wilson's sixth shutout of the season.
The Golden Tigers will hope to regain their winning ways in the Gulf Coast Invitational Tournament when they return to action today against Walsh University at 12pm ET and Freed-Hardeman at 2pm.
