Brenau Remains Undefeated in SSAC Action

CLEVELAND, GA - The Brenau University softball team returned to SSAC action yesterday in a double header against Truett McConnell College. The Tigers came into the game with a 2-0 record in the conference, while the hosts were still looking to pick up their first SSAC win.

In the first game, Brenau had a total of 7 hits allowing only 2 hits in return as they went on to win 8-0 in 5 innings of play. Anna Maness was the winning pitcher with 4 strike outs. At the plate, Lana Lazar went 2 for 4, Ellen Black went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI, Kris Reynolds went 2 for 2 with 1 RBI, Taylor Kelly went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI and Tiffany Schandera went 1 for 3.

In the second game, Truett broke through Brenau's defense picking up two runs. However, the Tigers gave them all they could handle picking up the second game of the double header by the final score of 4-2. Jenny Shepherd - starting pitcher for the second game- recorded four strike outs. After pitching a solid game Shepherd was replaced by Maness, who recorded 5 strikeouts. Kris Reynolds and Ellen Black both picked up from where they left off in the previous game going 1 for 3 and each getting an RBI. Katie Bolin picked up the other RBI of the game going 1 for 1. Tiffany Schandera went 1 for 4, Lana Lazar went 1 for 1, and Taylor Kelly went 1 for 3.

The Tigers return to action today in their first home games of the season at Lanier Point Softball Complex with a double-header scheduled against Hiwassee College, TN. The first game is scheduled to begin at 5pm.
