Golden Tigers Keep SSAC Winning Streak Alive

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The Brenau University softball team returned to
action Saturday with a double victory at Emmanuel College . The
Tigers came into the SSAC game with a record of 20-5 overall and 7-1
in the SSAC. Brenau took the first game 4-1 in 8 innings and the
second game 6-0.In the first game, senior Ellen Black started the scoring for Brenau when she hit a triple to deep right field to score Tiffany Schandera who had a single and Morgan Smith who walked in the 8th inning. Winning pitcher- Anna Manness- held Emmanuel to just 3 hits and had a total 8 strikeouts. Schandera went 2 for 4, Smith went 2 for 2, Black went 1 for 4 with 2 RBI's, Jacqueline McWhorter went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI and Kris Reynolds went 1 for 1 with 1 RBI. Emmanuel pitcher- Jordan Najafi- had a total of 7 strikeouts and allowed the Tigers 9 hits.
In the second game, Brenau had a total 11 hits and scored 6 runs. Winning pitcher, Jenny Shepherd, had a total of 10 strikeouts and held Emmanuel to just 2 hits. Emmanuel pitcher, Kinely Hallman had no strikeouts in return. Sophomore, Kris Reynolds went 3 for 4 with 3
RBIs. Morgan Smith and Ellen Black both recorded an RBI apiece. Smith went 1 for 2 and Black went 3 for 4. Senior, Jacqueline McWhorter, also went 2 for 3.
The wins take the Golden Tigers record to 22-5 and 9-1 in the SSAC. Brenau will hope to carry their winning form into their game against Lee University on Tuesday, March 27th. The game starts at 3pm in Cleveland, Tennessee.
