Golden Tigers Keep Winning Streak Alive
GAINESVILLE, GA - In an SSAC double header last night, the Brenau University softball team defeated Emmanuel College 3-0 and 6-1, taking their record to 28-8 and 15-4 in the SSAC.
In the first game, Brenau had a total 7 hits scoring 3 runs. Emmanuel was shutout by pitcher Anna Maness who had a total of 3 strikeouts and denied the Lions a single hit. Senior, Ellen Black took the game's first run when she scored an RBI in the third inning. This was followed up in the fifth inning when sophomore, Jenny Shepherd hit a homerun scoring 2 RBI's. Senior, Lana Lazar also had a strong game going 2 for 4.
In the second game the Golden Tigers were quick to get on the scoreboard scoring a run in the first innings. Brenau had a total 10 hits in a game, which saw senior Morgan Smith get the second homerun of the evening. Smith went 2 for 4 in the game with 3 RBI's and the homerun. Jenny Shepherd added to her first games runs by going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's. Notable mentions also went to Taylor Kelly who went 1 for 2, and Brooke Bryant who went 2 for 3. Shepherd pitched the second game, recording a total of 7 strikeouts.
Brenau will return to action on Thursday April 12, when they play a double header against Montreat College at Lanier Point Park. Game time is scheduled for 5pm.
