Golden Tigers Defeat Montreat College

GAINESVILLE, GA - Brenau University Softball team had a comfortable shutout last night in their double header against Montreat College (NC). The Golden Tigers defeated Montreat 8-0 and 16-0, taking their overall record to 30-8.

In the first game, Anna Maness pitched recording a total of 8 strikeouts and limiting Montreat to just 3 hits and no runs. Brenau had a total 8 of hits. The Tigers were quick to start, picking up 2 runs in the first

inning. This was repeated in the second and third innings. Brenau picked up the last two runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Seniors Brooke Bryant, Lana Lazar, Morgan Smith, and Ellen Black all went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI apiece. Sophomores, Jenny Shepherd and Kris Reynolds both recorded RBI's going 1 for 3 and 2 for 3 respectively. Tiffany Schandera went 2 for 3.

In the second game, the Golden Tigers were even more proficient scoring 16 runs! Brenau had a total of 14 hits and a grand slam by Morgan Smith. Ellen Black pitched for Brenau and had a total of 6 strikeouts. Senior, Morgan Smith went 1 for 2 with 4 RBI's and hit a grand slam in the 3^rd inning. The Tigers picked up a total 12 runs in the third inning alone. Lana Lazar went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's, Kris Reynolds went 1 for 1 with 1 RBI, Jana Bryant went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI, Brooke Bryant went 2 for 2 with 1 RBI, and Katie Bolin went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. Ellen Black went 2 for 4 on the game.

Brenau will return to action tonight -April 13^th- when they play a double header against Brewton-Parker in an SSAC clash at Lanier Point Park. Game time is scheduled for 5pm.
