Golden Tigers Offense Stifled
GAINESVILLE GA - The Brenau University softball team was defeated in their double header on Friday against Lee University. A homerun in the doubleheader was the only difference between the two sides as Brenau lost by the score of 1-0 in both games.
In the first game, the game remained scoreless until the top of the sixth when Lee's Kelsey Barnes hit her fifth homerun of the season to put the Lady Flames one up in the contest. Lee held out in the final inning to take the first game 1-0. Brenau had a total 4 hits to Lee's 3 and a homerun. Tiffany Schandera and Brooke Bryant both went 1 for 2 and Lana Lazar and Jenny Shepherd went 1 for 3. Anna Maness pitched the game for the Golden Tigers recording 2 strikeouts.
In the second game, Lee came out early picking up a run in the second inning when Coscorrosa hit a homerun over the left-centerfield fence. That was to be the only run of the game with both teams playing great defense and shutting each other out for the remainder of the game. Brenau had a total 3 hits to Lee's 7. Brenau's hits went to Jenny Shepherd (1-3), Ellen Black (1-3), and Jacqueline McWhorter (1-2). Anna Maness pitched once again for Brenau recording six strikeouts.
After the disappointing defeat, the Golden Tiger's record slips to 34-12 and 19-8 in the SSAC. Last night's game brought an end to Brenau's regular season play; they will now wait to find out who they will be matched against in the post-season conference play. The SSAC Softball Tournament will be held April 26th- 28th in Columbus, Ga. More details will be posted once they become available.
