Brenau Eliminated From SSAC Tournament
Columbus, GA- The Golden Tigers win-streak came to a halt against the Lady Hawks of Shorter University on Championship Saturday at the SSAC Softball Tournament. Facing a must win-situation, Brenau once again came to play but unfortunately it didn't happen. A fifth inning homer was all the Lady Hawks needed to eliminate Brenau from the tournament. Shorter (46-10) eliminated Brenau from the tournament for the second straight season -- the Lady Hawks defeated the Golden Tigers (39-14) in last year's tourney.
Anna Maness was impressive for Brenau, allowing only four hits on the game and the stellar defense of the Golden Tigers had been solid throughout the whole tournament. However, offensively Brenau struggled against solid pitching from the opposition- ultimately deciding the team's fate.
Brenau will now await word from the NAIA about a possible at-large bid to the NAIA National Softball Tournament. The tournament will be hosted by the University of Mobile and is scheduled for May 17-23 and is to be held at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex in Gulf Shores, AL.
