Brenau Softball Beats NAIA's Best

The Golden Tigers will make an unprecedented appearance in the next round of the NAIA Softball National Championships when they take on SSAC foe, Auburn University-Montgomery at 10am in Gulf Shores, AL. Brenau heads into double elimination play with a 42-14 overall record and as winner of Pool A.

Following 7 scoreless innings against top-ranked Concordia University on Saturday evening, Brenau finally got things going in the top of the 8^th. Sophomore- Jenny Shepherd bunted and reached first on a fielder's choice. Sally Duggan was hit by a pitch and Shepherd advanced to second. Taylor Kelley stepped up and doubled to deep left-center scoring Shepherd and Duggan. The top of the inning ended with the Tigers leading 2-0. Solid pitching and defense were all the Tigers needed to close out the inning and the game.

Brenau will take their 42-14 record into Monday's match up with Southern States Athletic Conference opponent AUM. The Warhawks are currently 41-18 on the season and similarly went 3-0 to win their pool. In their previous meeting in the conference tournament, the Tigers were bested by the Warhawks by a 1-0 scoreline. Since then, the Golden Tigers have gone unbeaten and are riding a 6 game winning streak. Monday's game is scheduled for a 10am start time.
