Brenau Stays Unbeaten at Softball Championships

Gulf Shores, AL- Brenau (GA) and Shorter (GA) are the last two unbeatens in the 2012 NAIA National Softball Championships after 2 sets of double-elimination bracket play on Monday. Brenau stayed unbeaten in bracket play thanks to a five run first inning that saw the Golden Tigers bat around. Seven of the first eight hitters reached safely, including four staright singles from Jenny Shepherd, Ellen Black, Sally Duggan and Taylor Kelley that produced three runs. Black finished 3 for 4 with three RBI, and Duggan went 3 for 3 with two runs scored for Brenau. Central Baptist got two hits from Jessica Tickle and two RBI from Kiara Bonner. Anna Maness picked up the win for Brenau allowing one earned run on 5 hits in a complete game effort. She struck out seven and walked 5.
Brenau will now face off with the only other unbeaten team in the tournament, the Shorter University Lady Hawks. Game time is scheduled for 12:30pm today in Gulf Shores, AL.
