Schandera and Maness Named to All-Tournament Team
Following their unprecedented run at a national title at the NAIA National Softball Championships, the Golden Tigers were rewarded with two all-tournament honorees. Pitcher, Anna Maness, Seagrove, NC and third basemen, Tiffany Schandera, Columbus, GA, were both named to the 2012 NAIA National Championship All-Tournament Team. Both players had exceptional performances over the course of the 7 games they competed in during the tournament. Both Schandera and Maness will return for their final seasons in 2013.
Schandera and Maness returned this year on the heels of a remarkable 2011 season. Third basemen- Schandera- was the recipient of the coveted SSAC Player-of-the-Year award in 2011 and also an NAIA First Team All-America selection. Her teammate, Maness, had an equally impressive 2011 as she was recognized as a First Team All-SSAC selection and garnered NAIA Honorable Mention All-America honors. Additionally, both she and Schandera were named to Louisville Slugger All-Region teams.
The Golden Tigers ended their season at 44-16 overall. Brenau wrapped up their second all-time national championship appearance and went 5-2 in the national tournament this year to stand at 6-4 all-time in national championship action. This was the Golden Tigers second trip to the national tournament, having been recipients of a bid in 2009.
