Marsh and Glenn Join Brenau Softball
Skilled Richmond Hill High School middle infielder Cheyenne Marsh of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Oconee County High School catcher/outfielder Caitlyn Glenn of Watkinsville, Ga joined the No. 3 nationally ranked Brenau Golden Tigers softball team during the 2012 fall semester.
While playing for the Richmond Hill Wildcats the Brenau freshman, a psychology major, was a member of the Georgia Elite 80, All Region 2010, Best Defensive 2010, Team All Region and Most Valuable Player 2011 awards.
Marsh finished her high school career with batting average of .471, 14 RBIs, seven stolen bases, five doubles and two triples.
Marsh said she believes the Brenau softball program will give her the opportunity to compete intercollegiately in a tough, star-studded league. However, the main she chose Brenau, she explained, was because how well she "clicked with the coaches, [Head coach Devon] Thomas and [Assistant Coach Gary] Hatfield."
"Cheyenne is going to be a great asset to our program both offensively and defensively," said Thomas. "We look for great things from her as a freshman. She has a very high-level skill set. She is a left-handed hitter, which is a triple threat. She can slap, bunt and hit with power."
Glenn started playing softball when she was 10 years old. She grew up around her father playing and the entire sport consumed her with curiosity. One day she signed up for recreational ball and played from then on.
While playing for the Oconee County High School Warriors, Glenn was part of the 2008 and 2011 Oconee County State championship softball team, A&B Honor roll throughout high school, First team all-state, First team all-region, First team all-area, First team all-county, caught all three 2012 all-state games, caught and played outfield for the 2012 North-South all-star game.
Glenn graduated with a .504 batting average, 39 career home runs, 52 RBIs, 40 runs, 58 hits, nine doubles and a triple.
Nursing major, Glenn said "The education is a top priority of mine and the softball team makes me feel like I am at home."
"We are very excited to have Caitlyn with us" said Thomas. "She is a strong addition to our team and is an excellent student in a classroom."
The Golden Tigers will play the first game of the season on February 8 against Kentucky State University.
