CoachThomas following the loss commented, "We made some mental mistakes on defense and just could not get the big hits. We had bases loaded and no outs in the 1st inning and couldn't score…that set the pace for the game and the momentum shifted to SCSU and we never regained it back."
The Tigers quickly rebounded against Benedict College in the next game defeating them in the fifth inning by a 12-1 margin. Brenau recorded six hits in the process with Andre Bentley (Augusta, GA) providing the firepower going 1 for 3 and recording a grand slam and 5 RBI's. Defensively, Katie Cole (Tupelo, MS) recorded the win earning 6 strikeouts while allowing just two hits.
Following the game, Coach Thomas had this to say- "We came out and kept momentum on our side from the last pitch, executed on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, and positive things happened."
