Softball Seniors to be Recognized Tomorrow
The Brenau Golden Tigers softball team will recognize six seniors following their final home game during their Senior Night ceremony tomorrow.
Sally Duggan, an outfielder from Huntsville, Ala., has appeared in 133 games for the Golden Tigers. She is a biology major who is currently 4th in batting average and 1st in stolen bases. Most recently she has been recognized as the SSAC Softball Player of the Week.
Taylor Kelley, a shortstop from Toccoa, Ga., has appeared in 160 games for the Golden Tigers. She is a 2012 SSAC East Division Gold Glove winner and a 2011 All-Academic team member. Kelley is a biology major who is currently ranked 3rd in batting average and 4th in RBIs.
Anna Maness, a pitcher from Seagrove, N.C., has appeared in 134 career games for the Golden Tigers. She was named Freshman of Year in 2010 and is a three time SSAC First Team All-Conference selection. She is also a 3 time SSAC All-Academic team member and was a 2011 NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. Maness is a nursing major who currently leads the team in wins and strikeouts.
Lauren Parten, a second baseman from Hartwell, Ga., has appeared in 52 career games for the Golden Tigers. Parten is a health science major who is currently fifth in putouts and tenth in slugging percentage.
Tiffany Schandera, a 3rd baseman from Columbus, Ga., has appeared in 191 games for the Golden Tigers. She is a three time SSAC First Team All-Conference selection, and a three time SSAC All-Academic team member. In 2011, she was named SSAC Player of the Year and also selected as an NAIA First Team All-American. Schandera, a nursing major, is currently 2nd in batting average and 2nd in RBIs.
Taylor Shrader, an outfielder/3b from Henegar, Ala., has appeared in 105 games for the Golden Tigers. Shrader, a psychology major, is currently 5th in batting average and tied for first in on-base percentage.
Coach Devon Thomas spoke about his seniors saying, "It has been an honor and a privilege to coach this group of seniors and they will be greatly missed. They have set a high standard on and off the field during their time here and I am grateful for their contributions."
These senior class members will be recognized following the conclusion of tomorrow's doubleheader against Truett McConnell College. Tomorrow's first game is set for a 5pm start at Lanier Point Softball Complex in Gainesville, Ga.
