SSAC Releases Softball Seedings/Tournament Bracket

NORCROSS, Ga. – The softball regular season concluded on Saturday, April 27 in a rather unorthodox fashion. Due to rain outs and impending rain, league officials, head coaches, and athletic directors made the decision to conclude the regular season with the current standings. All-in-all, eight softball games were rained out, including Brewton-Parker vs. Emmanuel (2), Southern Wesleyan vs. Coastal Georgia (2), Truett-McConnell vs. Lee (2), and Coastal Georgia vs. Brenau (2).
With the conclusion of the regular season, the 2013 SSAC Softball Conference Championship seeds are set and ready to play at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, GA. The softball championship begins on Thursday, May 2 with the championship game played on Saturday May 4.
In the East, the third ranked Lee University Flames claim the top seed boasting a 23-6 conference record and 40-9 overall record. The Flames captured back-to-back regular season conference titles for the East and are looking for their fourth conference championship title.
In the West, the seventh ranked Warhawks of Auburn University at Montgomery claim the top seed with a 17-7 conference record and 39-8 overall record. The Warhawks captured their first regular season West division conference title and are seeking their first SSAC conference championship title.
The 22nd ranked Golden Tigers of Brenau University claimed the second seed in the East with a 17-9 conference record and 32-14 overall record. In the west, the 11th ranked Blazers of Belhaven University grabbed the second seed with an 18-8 conference record and 32-10 overall record.
The East top 5 wrap-up as follows, Brewton-Parker College, third seed and 13-13 in SSAC, Southern Wesleyan University, fourth seed and 11-17 in SSAC, and Emmanuel College, fifth seed and 11-20 in SSAC. In the West, No. 15 Spring Hill College, third seed and 16-9 in SSAC, No. 17 William Carey University, fourth seed and 19-11 in SSAC, and #RV University of Mobile, fifth seed and 12-14 in SSAC.
