Golden Tigers Bounce Back in SSAC Tournament

In game two of the Southern States Athletic Conference softball tournament, the Brenau Golden Tigers defeated the Emmanuel (Ga.) College Lions 9-3.

Looking to bounce back from their first game loss, the Brenau bats answered the call. In the second inning, Brenau took a 1-0 lead on a Jenny Shepherd (Martinez, Ga.) solo home run. The Lions, however, took a 3-1 lead in the top of the third inning, but the Golden Tiger offense responded in the bottom half of the inning. Senior Tiffany Schandera (Columbus, Ga.) hit a solo home run, while fellow senior Taylor Kelly (Toccoa, Ga.) added two RBIs to give the Golden Tigers a 4-3 lead.

Liz Schneider (Smyrna, Ga.) and Cheyenne Marsh (Richmond Hill, Ga.) added RBIs in both the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to increase the Golden Tiger's lead to 9-3.

Anna Maness pitched 3 innings while Shepherd pitched 4 innings in relief. The two pitchers combined to not allow no earned runs.

The Golden Tigers will now face William Carey (Miss.) University at 2 pm on Friday.
