Softball Falls In SSAC Tournament

The #21 Brenau softball team lost to University of Mobile (Ala.) 6-1 to end their run in the SSAC tournament.

The Golden Tigers allowed two unearned runs in the top of the second and another in the top of the third to find themselves in a 3-0 deficit. In the bottom of the sixth, senior Jenny Shepherd drove in the first run of the game, but the Golden Tigers could not sustain their offensive momentum. Mobile added three more runs in the top of the seventh to close out the win.

Brenau struggled to score runs as the Golden Tigers stranded 11 base runners. Allison Gunn led Brenau with two hits, while Shepherd had the lone RBI.

Jenny Willis pitched all seven innings, allowing ten hits and four earned runs to take the loss.

The loss brings an end to scheduled play as the Golden Tigers finish with a 34-13 (18-10 SSAC) record. Brenau will wait for the NAIA National Tournament at-large bids to be announced in hopes of continuing their season.
