Softball Loses to Bethel In SSAC Tournament

The Brenau softball team lost their elimination game at the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament with a 9-1 loss to Bethel (Tenn.) University on Friday.

The Wildcats started quickly,scoring nine runs in the first four innings to take a commanding 9-0 lead.

Savannah Moore (FR/Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth to put the Golden Tigers on the scoreboard, but the Brenau offense was unable to sustain any momentum.

Mackenzie Oliver (SO/Martin, Ga.) led Brenau with two hits, while Moore added the solo homer and RBI.

Taylor Causey (JR/Covington, Ga.) pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and three runs to take the loss. Jenny Willis (SR/Auburn, Ga.) pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief, allowing six runs on nine hits.

Brenau ends the 2015 season with a 33-19 record (15-15 SSAC) and returns 16 letter winners to the 2015-16 team.
