Kinney Signs With Softball

Brenau softball announces the signing of Courtney Kinney to the 2015-16 team.

Kinney is a transfer from Georgia Military College and was a prep standout at Union Grove High School in McDonough, Georgia. While at Union Grove, Kinney was a two-time All-State selection.

At Georgia Military College, Kinney was an all-conference and all-tournament selection. She started 53 of 55 games, hitting .329 with three home runs and 26 RBIs. She slugged .497 and had a .371 on base percentage. The standout was ranked second in the region in doubles (15), second in runs scored (37) and fourth in hits (51).

"Courtney is a great defensive catcher and hard worker behind the plate, said head coach Devon Thomas. "She is very consistent at the plate and possesses good power. We were very lucky to pick her up from GMC where she had a great freshman campaign. We look for her to make an immediate impact on the field for us in 2016."

Kinney is the sixth signee for the 2015-16 team.
