Softball Takes Two Over Truett
The Brenau softball team swept Truett-McConnell (Ga.) College 8-1 and 3-2 on Thursday in Cleveland, Ga.
In the opener, Gracie Dorr pitched a complete game shutout for her first collegiate win and the offense pounded out eight runs in the fourth inning to close out the game 9-0 in five innings.
Courtney Kenney hit her second home run as a Golden Tiger, while Lexi Cash went 3-4 with 2 RBIs. Kelsey Payne also added two RBIs in the win.
In game two, the Golden Tigers scored two runs in the second inning and added one run in the fourth inning to squeeze out a 3-2 victory.
Jessica Rathje pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing only five hits and one run to earn her second win of the season. Megan Wolinsky had a strong showing in relief, allowing no runs in 2 2/3 innings of work.
After Cheyenne Marsh reached on an error, the senior advanced to second to draw a throw. On the throw to second, Allison Gunn scored from third to give the Golden Tigers a 3-1 lead.
Cheyenne Marsh and Mason Garland each had two hits, while Landon Farrow added one hit and an RBI.
Brenau (4-0 overall, 0-0 SSAC) next travels to Georgia Gwinnett College on Saturday to face West Virginia Tech at 1:30 eastern and host (21) Georgia Gwinnett at 4pm.
