Offense Powers Softball Past Truett-McConnell

The Brenau softball team won their third game of the season with a 9-1 win over Truett McConnell (Ga.) College on Monday in Cleveland, Ga.

The Golden Tigers scored three runs in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead, then added runs in both the fifth and sixth inning to stretch the lead to 5-0. The host Bears scored one in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 5-1, but Brenau added four in the top of the seventh to pull away with the victory.

Tabitha Morrison and Kelsey Payne each drove in two runs, while Sarah Peery, Caty McCauley, Courtney Kenney and Autumn Conaway each had an RBI.

Freshman Kathleen "Eli" Daniel (2-0) posted another excellent outing , throwing a complete game while allowing four hits and one run with 12 strikeouts.

Megan Burke took the loss for the Bears.

Game two was called due to inclement field conditions due to weather.

Brenau (3-0 overall) next plays Talledega (Ala.) College on Friday in the home opener at Ernest Ledford Grindle Athletics Park. The doubleheader will start at 3 pm eastern.
