Softball Takes Two From Faulkner
The Brenau softball team swept conference rival Faulkner (Ala.) University in a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader to remain undefeated in conference play.
In the first game of the afternoon, the Golden Tigers' offense scored two runs in the first and one in the second to take an early lead. After the Eagles cut the lead to 3-1 with a run in the bottom of the second, Brenau answered with three runs in the top of the sixth to cruise to a 6-1 win.
Six different Golden Tigers drove in runs as Mackenzie Oliver Mullis, Kelsey Payne, Autumn Conaway, Shelton Kendrix, Lexi Cash and Tabitha Morrison each put runs up on the board.
In the second game, Brenau put up three runs in the fifth inning and held off a late rally from the Eagles to escape with a 3-1 win to sweep the doubleheader.
Mullis continued her strong day at the plate with two more hits and a stolen base, while Autumn Conaway added three hits and an RBI. Savannah Moore also chipped in two hits and an RBI.
Kathleen Daniel pitched two complete games against the Eagles, allowing a total of two runs on six hits. The freshman struck out 18 batters over the 14 innings to capture her 19th and 20th wins of the season.
Brenau (27-5 overall, 6-0 SSAC) hits the road again on Friday for a conference doubleheader against Coastal Georgia at 1:00 pm eastern in Brunswick.
