Softball Sweeps SSAC Weekly Awards Again
The Brenau softball team swept the SSAC Softball Player of the Week honors as Kathleen Daniel was named Pitcher of the Week and Autumn Conaway was named Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
The awards are based on performance for the week of April 10-16.
For Daniel, this is her seventh conference pitcher of the week award out of nine for 2016-17. The freshman helped the Golden Tigers go 4-0 on the week to improve the team's record to 43-5. She won three of the four contests, totaling 18 innings and 36 strikeouts while allowing no runs or walks and only eight hits.
She struck out 25 batters in two complete-game shutouts versus Middle Georgia and struck out 11 in four innings against Brewton Parker.
On the season, she is 35-2 with a 0.45 ERA and 478 strikeouts and currently leads the NAIA in wins and strikeouts.
For Conaway, this is her second award, having won it in two of the last three weeks
In four conference wins, the freshman hit .769 and slugged 1.231, while totaling 10 hits, six RBIs and four extra-base hits in wins over Middle Georgia and Brewton Parker.
She had multiple hits in each game, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home run in game two versus Brewton-Parker and 5-for-7 in two games versus the Knights.
She currently ranks third in the league in both batting average (.410) and slugging percentage (.569).
