Golden Tigers Sweep Softball Player of Week Awards
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Brenau softball again swept the SSAC Softball Player of the Week honors, with Kathleen Daniel being named SSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week and Savannah Moore being named SSAC Softball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
The awards are based on performance for the week of April 24 – 30.
Daniel, who has won the award nine out of 11 weeks, helped the Golden Tigers win the 2017 SSAC Softball Championship.
During the tournament, she went 4-0, while striking out 38 in 30 innings, with a 0.70 ERA and only 20 hits allowed.
In the championship game, she struck out 15 Lady Rams in a nine-inning four-hitter, and she struck out 11 Crusaders in seven innings to advance to the title game. She was also named the Tournament Most Valuable Player for her performance.
Moore caught all four games as the Golden Tigers went 4-0 to claim the 2017 SSAC Softball Championship.
The junior hit .385, collecting a hit in every game, including a two-out, two-run single to beat William Carey and advance to the title game
On the year, she is batting .299 with 11 doubles and 31 RBIs.
For Moore, this is her first player of the week honors of the year as a Golden Tiger has won the award in five of the last nine weeks.
