Softball Closes Classic With Sweep of SUNY-Delhi
On the final day of the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic, the #5 Brenau softball team swept SUNY-Delhi 16-1 and 8-0 in five innings on Friday in Myrtle Beach, SC.
In game one, Brenau used a strong pitching performance from Kaleigh Sullivan to cruise to an 8-0 win in five innings. Sullivan (4-1, 0.66 ERA) pitched all five innings, allowing only one hit while striking out nine to earn her fourth win of the season.
Six different players drove in runs for the Golden Tigers on eight hits as the team won their ninth game of the season.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Brenau bats slugged twenty hits to rout the Broncos 16-1 in five innings.
Autumn Conaway went 3-3 with three RBIs, while Kelsey Payne added three hits and three more RBIs. Chelsea Dale also plated two RBIs and Lauren Sanders added two hits and an RBI in the win.
Chloe Fambrough (1-0, 2.33 ERA) rolled to her first collegiate win as the freshman pitched all five innings, allowing only one run on two hits.
The team finishes the classic with a 7-1 record and outscored its opposition 66-12 over the eight games.
Brenau (10-2 overall) opens Appalachian Athletic Conference play on March 6th when the team hosts Union (Ky.) College for a 4 pm doubleheader.
