Softball Splits With Bluefield in AAC Play
The #13 Brenau softball team split a pair of games against Bluefield (Va.) College in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Friday in Gainesville.
In game one, the visiting Rams slugged eleven hits and three home runs en route to an 11-3 win.
Autumn Conaway, Faith Grooms and Savannah Moore each drove in one run, but the bats were unable to respond to the early deficit.
Jessica Rathje pitched three innings, allowing four hits and four runs to take the loss.
In game two, Rathje answered the call as the senior pitched a complete game to shut down the Rams in a 7-1 win.
Shelton Kendrix hit her second homer of the year and drove in three runs, while Karly Smith chipped in two RBIs. Savannah Moore and Kelsey Payne each added two hits to the win.
Brenau (14-9 overall, 3-1 AAC) next travels to Point (Ga.) University (15-15 overall, 7-3 AAC) on Tuesday at 3 pm for an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup.
