Softball Rolls Past Allen in AAC Play
The #19 Brenau softball team overwhelmed Allen University in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup on Tuesday.
In the first game, the Golden Tigers scored 20 runs on 21 hits to roll past the Yellow Jackets (2-16 overall, 0-10 AAC) by a score of 20-1 in five innings.
Lexi Cash, Savannah Moore and Autumn Conaway each had four hits, while Faith Grooms hit her fourth home run of the season to outpace the host squad.
Freshman Caroline Mitchell pitched three shutout innings to take the win, while fellow freshman Chloe Fambrough threw two innings of relief.
In the second game, freshman pitcher Kaleigh Sullivan threw five no-hit innings to lead her team to an 8-0 win. Sullivan added eight strikeouts and only faced 16 batters in her five innings of work.
Karly Smith went 2-3 with two RBIs, while Chelsea Dale, Lauren Sanders and Sarah Peery each added hits.
Brenau (17-10 overall, 6-2 AAC) next hosts Tennessee Wesleyan University (15-11 overall, 8-4 AAC) on Thursday at 2 pm in Gainesville.
