Softball Sweeps Columbia; Looks Ahead to AAC Tournament

The Brenau softball team closed out the regular season with a sweep of Columbia (SC) College in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Saturday in Columbia.

In the opening game, the Golden Tigers used a three-run first inning to roll to a 4-1 win.

Freshman hurler Kaleigh Sullivan pitched a complete game, allowing only four hits and one run to shut down the Koalas.

Kelsey Payne led the offense with two RBIs, while Faith Grooms added an RBI in the victory.

In game two, sophomore Autumn Conaway knocked in three runs to help the Golden Tigers slip past the host Koalas 3-2.

Conaway had two hits and three RBIs, while Payne and Grooms each added a hit.

Brenau (25-18 overall, 14-10 AAC) now awaits their opponent in the opening round of next week's AAC tournament.
