Softball Splits with Point in Conference Play
Gainesville, Ga.-The Brenau softball team split a pair of conference games with Point University (14-12 overall, 9-7 AAC) in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Tuesday.
In game one, Point starter Ryan Simpson allowed only one run on six hits through seven innings to keep the Brenau bats in check to take a 3-1 victory. The Golden Tigers scored first as Lexi Cash singled to center to score Shelton Kendrix for a 1-0 lead. However, Point scored one run in the fourth inning and two in the fifth inning to rally to victory. Brenau starter Jessica Rathje went all seven innings, allowing two runs on nine hits in the loss.
In game two, Golden Tiger starter Chloe Fambrough threw seven strong innings, while the offense scored five runs in the first innings to roll to an 8-1 victory. Tabitha Morrison led Brenau at the plate, going 2-3 with two RBIs. Maygan Loparo went 1-4 with two RBIs, while Autumn Conaway went 1-3 with two RBIs. Fambrough improved her record to 6-1 on the season.
Brenau (16-4 overall, 5-3 AAC) faces a quick turnaround as the squad plays host to Bryan College (6-16 overall, 3-5 AAC) on Wednesday for a 4 pm doubleheader at Ernest Ledford Grindle Athletics Park.
