Softball Splits with Reinhardt; Wraps up AAC Play
Waleska, Ga. - The Brenau softball team wrapped up the regular season conference slate by splitting a doubleheader with Reinhardt University on Wednesday.
In game one, Golden Tigers starter Jessica Rathje pitched a four-hit complete game shutout to help her team roll to a 5-0 game.
The Glencoe, Ala. native struck out 10 batters and allowed only four hits to capture her eighteenth win of the season. The senior currently sits in second place in wins (18), ERA (1.68), batters struck out per game (8.23) and is first in total strikeouts (181) in the conference.
Autumn Conaway went 3-3 with an RBI, while Faith Grooms, Maygan Loparo and Alyssa Maisonet each added two hits to the win. Grooms chipped in two steals to increase her conference-leading total to 38 steals on the season.
In game two, the host Eagles turned the tables as Reinhardt starter Erin Carney held the Brenau bats in check to take the win 6-2.
Grooms and Lexi Cash each drove in a run, while Maisonet and Savannah Dooley added hits.
Brenau (29-9 overall, 18-8 AAC) finishes the regular season with a trip to #5 Georgia Gwinnett College (33-11 overall) for a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 pm.
