Offense Leads Golden Tigers in Split with TWU
Athens, Tennessee- The Brenau softball team split a doubleheader with Tennessee Wesleyan University in Appalachian Athletic Conference on Monday.
In the opening game, Tennessee Wesleyan scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth and held off a late Brenau rally to escape with an 11-9 win.
Both teams combined for 25 total hits in an offensive slugfest.
Freshman Hannah Patridge continued her offensive surge with her seventh home run of the year. The AAC Player of the Week went 3-5 at the plate with four RBIs to lead the offense.
In game two, the Golden Tigers offense continued to roll to help outlast the host Bulldogs 11-7.
Partridge went 3-5 with two RBIs, while senior Faith Grooms went 3-5 with three RBIs and a stolen base. Seven Golden Tigers had two or more hits in the game as the squad pounded out 17 hits.
Brenau (14-10 overall, 11-7 AAC) next hosts #17 Reinhardt University (31-5 overall, 15-5 AAC) in a 5 pm doubleheader on Wednesday at the Ernest Ledford Grindle Athletics Complex in Gainesville.
