Softball Sweeps Union in AAC Doubleheader

Barbourville, Kentucky- The Brenau softball team swept Union (Ky.) College 8-0 in 5 innings and 6-3 on Sunday.

In the opening game, Brenau scored seven runs in the first inning off of Union starter Megan Merritt to cruise to an 8-0 win.

Brenau starter Alyssa Bedenbaugh mowed down the Bulldogs lineup with a three hit shutout over five innings.

Freshman Olivia Kelly led the Brenau offense with three RBIs, while senior Kasey Blair added two hits and two RBIs.

In the second game, Brenau continued the solid offensive day to sweep the doubleheader 6-3. Senior Shea Reagor had two RBIs and freshman Whitney Hulsey went 2-3 with an RBI.

Starter Sarah Shaw went five innings, allowing only three runs to earn her ninth win of the season, while Bedenbaugh threw one inning of relief for her first save of the season.

Brenau (14-6 overall, 10-4 AAC) travels to Milligan (Tenn.) University (12-10 overall, 8-10 AAC) in a Saturday AAC doubleheader starting at 2 pm in Elizabethton, Tennessee.
