Softball Completes Third Consecutive AAC Sweep; Downs Montreat
Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau softball team swept Montreat (N.C.) College 4-2 and 5-2 on Tuesday to earn its third consecutive Appalachian Athletic Conference sweep.
In the opening game, junior Hannah Patridge hit her third home run of the season and starter Alyssa Bedenbaugh pitched a complete game to earn a 4-2 victory.
Sophomore Taryn Hitchcock added and RBI, while senior Morgan Tyler and freshman Riley Smith each added stolen bases.
In the second game, starter Sarah Shaw also pitched a complete game and RBIs from Samantha Rooker, Whitney Hulsey, Shea Reagor, Abigail Brown and Carley Cox helped the Golden Tigers complete the sweep 5-2.
The Golden Tigers sit in a three-way tie in the AAC softball standings along side Truett-McConnell (Ga.) and Tennessee Wesleyan.
Brenau (18-6 overall, 14-4 AAC) next takes on Reinhardt (Ga.) University (17-9 overall, 12-2 AAC) in a Thursday AAC doubleheader starting at 3 pm at Ernest Ledford Grindle Park in Gainesville.
