Softball Rolls Past Point; Splits with Brewton Parker
Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau softball swept Point (Ga.) University 7-1 and 8-4 and split with Brewton Parker (Ga.) University in a pair of non-conference doubleheaders at Ernest Ledford Grindle Athletics Field this week.
In game one versus Point, starting pitcher Maliah Lee pitched a complete game shutout, while fellow freshman Ava Moon went 3-4 with an RBI and a stolen base to power past the Skyhawks 7-1.
In game two, the Golden Tiger offense continued to roll as the squad pushed out 15 hits en route to an 8-4 win. Sophomore Riley Smith and freshman Peyton Hawkins each had three hits, while sophomore Whitney Hulsey added two RBIs and two stolen bases in the win. Sarah Shaw (3-1) and Carlie Neal combined to secure the victory on the mound.
Against Brewton Parker, senior Hannah Patridge doubled to left field to score Whitney Hulsey for the walk-off 2-1 win. Partridge and Hulsey combined for four hits, while senior Abigail Brown added the other RBI.
Carlie Neal (2-0) pitched five innings to earn the win.
In the second game against Brewton Parker, the visitors scored four runs in the sixth inning to pull away 10-3.
Brenau (6-2 overall, 0-0 AAC) travels to Faulkner (Ala.) University (3-1 overall) on Wednesday for a 1 pm and 3 pm Eastern time doubleheader. The teams split the previous meeting earlier in February.
