Softball Sweeps Carolina University in Non-Conference Play
Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau softball overwhelmed visiting Carolina (NC) University 10-1 (5 innings) and 6-1 in a non-conference doubleheader at Ernest Ledford Grindle Athletics Field on Monday.
In the opening game, the Golden Tigers exploded for eight runs in the third inning to break open the game.
Senior Hannah Patridge led the squad going 3-3 with 3 RBIs. Freshman Dayton Power added two hits and sophomore Whitney Hulsey went 3-3 with 2 RBIs.
Starter Sarah Shaw overwhelmed the Bruins by pitching all five innings and allowing only one run to earn her AAC-leading 12th victory of the season.
In the nightcap, the Golden Tigers pounded out 13 hits to cruise to a 6-1 win.
Partridge continued her stellar day by going 3-4 with 6 RBIs. Freshman Breanne Brookshire went a perfect 2-2 from the plate, while fellow freshman Ava Moon went 3-4 with 2 stolen bases. Power also added three hits and three stolen bases.
Golden Tiger starter Carlie Neal secured her fourth win of the season with a complete game.
Brenau (21-13 overall, 12-8 AAC) next travels to Kentucky Christian University 10-20 overall, 8-12 and AAC) for an AAC doubleheader on Friday.
