Henson Leads Brenau Over Columbia

Gainesville, GA- Senior Meg Henson (Gainesville) had her best game of the season today with 16 points, five steals, four assists and four rebounds as the Golden Tigers won their third straight with an 88-68 decision over Columbia, SC. Brenau is now 10-4 on the season and 3-2 in conference play while the Koalas drop to 2-10, 0-5. Ashley Hagans scored 24 points to go with four assists and Tori Collins had 12, including 3-3 from behind the arc and four assists in a game that saw 11 players score for the Tigers.Paige Cooper collected a season high 11 rebounds and Freshman Olivia Williams came off the bench to score a season high seven points. Brenau shot .465 for the game including a sizzling .594 in the second half and won the battle of the boards 43-40 including a season best 17 offensive rebounds. Brenau led the entire game except for a brief time in the first half when the visitors went ahead 9-7. The Tigers came right back and built a 37-24 bulge by halftime. With this win, the career win-loss record for basketball at Brenau moves to 53-52, which is a winning record for the first time. Next up are two tough opponents in Berry and Shorter next week at home, with Berry coming in on Thursday for a 6 pm tipoff.
