Ledford Leads Tigers to SSAC Win

Gainesville, GA- Senior Sarah Ledford (Ellijay) scored a season high 21 points today to help the Brenau basketball team (15-8, 5-6) defeat Brewton Parker (9-13, 4-8) in SSAC action 81-60. Ledford responded to her first start in some time by going 8-14 from the field, including two three pointers, to lead all scorers in the game. Ashley Hagans chipped in with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists and Nikki Reed and Vicky Wilson added 10 apiece.The Tigers shot a blistering .536 from the field in the first half on their way to a 43-23 halftime lead, while the Barons shot at a .391 clip. The Brenau transition game was the difference as the Tigers converted off of 25 Brewton turnovers. "We really wanted to come out a make a statement after our lackluster performance from Thursday night, said Coach Gary Bays. I thought our players responded very well to the challenge the coaching staff presented in practice yesterday." The Tigers will play at home on Monday night at 6 pm against Truett McConnell.
