Brenau Loses Second Straight in SSAC
January 18, 2011
Rome, Ga - The Brenau basketball team (9-5, 1-2) dropped their second game in a row and fifth of their last seven with a 98-60 loss to #23 Shorter tonight in SSAC action. Sophomore Gabby Harvey (Lilburn) led the way for the Tigers with 15 points and four rebounds. She also had two steals and two assists. The only other player in double figures was Tatiana Khudiakova with 12.
Shorter took control of the game from the outset and shot a sizzling .478 from the field while limiting Brenau to .364. The big story, though, was the rebounding dominance by the Hawks, who pulled down 49 boards to only 31 for the Tigers. By halftime, the score was 45-25 and the rout was on. Damisha Moore came off the bench for Shorter and tossed in 22 points.
We were outhustled, outplayed and outcoached tonight," said Coach Gary Bays. "They beat us in every aspect of the game and played on a different level than we did. We have a lot of work to do and there isn't much time to do it."
The Tigers return to action Thursday night when they host #8 Lee University in another SSAC matchup. Tipoff is at 6 pm in Tiger Gym.
