No. 25 Belhaven Charges Past Brenau
GAINESVILLE, Ga - The Brenau University basketball team hosted No. 25 Belhaven University in their second conference game of the season, on Saturday afternoon. The Blazers defeated the Golden Tigers, 81-61, advancing their overall record to 7-0 (2-0 SSAC), while Brenau continues with a 3-3 overall record (0-2 SSAC).
Belhaven did not waste any time as they took the lead in the first half, and entered half-time with the score 41-24. When the Golden Tigers took to the court in the next half, they clearly challenged the Blazer's offense. Brenau scored 37 points in the second half alone, as Belhaven responded with 40. Unfortunately, the margin that the Blazers had created at the start of the game ultimately decided their victory.
The Golden Tigers were led offensively by Tala Black (Marietta, GA), a sophomore guard; she lit the scoreboard up with 19 points, while also recording 3 assists and a single steal. Junior Nikki Reed (Atlanta, GA) fueled Brenau's offense, by scoring 17 points and making 4 steals and 9 rebounds.
Once again, Brittany Wiley (Royston, GA) posted double digits against the Blazers. She scored 13 points for the night, along with 7 assists, 2 rebounds, and a steal.
The Golden Tigers basketball team will travel to play Reinhardt University on Tuesday, November 22nd. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:30pm.
