Tigers Win Three in Row
In another non-conference matchup, the Brenau University Golden Tigers faced the Spelman Jaguars. The Golden Tigers came out of the gate fast, jumping out to a 10-0 run behind layups from Gabby Harvey (Lilburn, Ga.) and Olivia Williams (Hiram, Ga.).
The hot shooting continued as Brittney Wiley (Royston, Ga.) and Kaitlyn Fleming (Mt. Airy, Ga.) hit back to back 3 pointers to increase the Brenau lead to 15.
Spelman, however, kept the game close with some late first half shooting, to cut the lead to 39-26.
The second half continued the Brenau hot shooting, mostly off fast breaks and offensive rebounding. An offensive put back from Raven Crawford (Toccoa, Ga.) and a late 3 pointer by Claire Zimmerman (Woodstock, Ga.) sealed the 80-54 victory.
Coach Kris Stewart commented that, "This is another good team win. We are shooting the ball well and moving the ball much better. I am very pleased with the way we have played the last three games."
Brenau was led by Harvey's 19 points and 14 rebounds. Wiley helped carry the scoring with 17 points, while Williams had 12 points and 9 rebounds.
Spelman was led by Tiana Welch's 19 points.
Brenau improved their record to 8-5 on the season and will face non-conference opponent Reinhardt University on Saturday.
