Tigers Bite Bears in Crucial SSAC Win
In a late season conference matchup, the Brenau Golden Tigers defeated the Truett-McConnell Bears 59-52.
Junior guard, Brittney Wiley (Royston, Ga.) got off to a quick start, scoring seven quick points to give Brenau an early lead. Raven Crawford's (Toccoa, Ga.) baseline jumper stretched the Golden Tiger lead to five points, taking that margin into the half.
In the second half, Wiley continued her hot shooting, nailing a baseline 3-pointer. Not only did Wiley's shot increase the Brenau lead, but it also marked the 1,000th point of her career. She joins six other Brenau players in the 1,000 point club, including current teammate Nikki Reed (Atlanta, GA). The Golden Tigers never trailed during the game and captured their 14th win of the season.
Gabby Harvey (Lilburn, Ga.) led Brenau in scoring with 12 points. Wiley chipped in 11 points, while Olivia Williams (Hiram, Ga.) notched 7 points and 8 rebounds.Krista Dixon led the Bears with 12 points and 8 rebounds.
Brenau runs its record to 14-13 overall; 5-11 in the SSAC with three critical games left in the regular season. The Golden Tigers will face Coastal Georgia on Senior Day - 2 pm this Saturday. Brenau will recognize the six graduating seniors immediately following the game.
