Basketball Drops First Conference Game
The Brenau Golden Tigers basketball team dropped their first conference game to Spring Hill College 77-58 on Friday.
Spring Hill jumped out to a blistering start, shooting 55% in the first half and talking a 47-24 lead into halftime.
The Golden Tigers fought back, opening the second half with a 16-2 run to cut into the Badger lead. Brenau outscored Spring Hill in the second half 34-30, but the overall deficit proved too much to overcome.
Brenau shot 15-34 (62%) from the foul line and 35% from the floor, while the Badgers were 11-17 (80%) from the foul line and 44% from the floor.
Leading the way for the Golden Tigers was Kalin Williams (Palmetto, Ga) with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Brittney Wiley (Royston, Ga.) added 13 points and 5 rebounds, while Jasmine Butler (Gainesville, Ga.) added 11 points and 8 rebounds. Freshman Nekeia Brown (Danielsville, Ga.) chipped in 7 points and 5 rebounds.
The Badgers were led by Armanee Broussard's 13 points.
"We ran into a hot shooting team tonight," said head coach Kris Stewart. "We shot poorly from the foul line and didn't finish layups in the first half. We fought back and made a good run at Spring Hill, but the deficit was just too much".
The Golden Tigers (4-3 overall, 2-1 SSAC) continue their conference travel on Saturday when they take on the University of Mobile at 3 pm eastern.
